1 Overview

This network interface driver provides the required support for the Echelon U10/U20 USB Network Interfaces on Mac OS X . Applications that use the de facto standard OpenLDV functions (ldv_open, ldv_read, ldv_write, ldv_close) can be used with the network interface driver. For more information on OpenLDV, download the OpenLDV Developer's Kit from http://www.echelon.com/downloads.

This network interface driver is licensed for royalty-free use exclusively with Echelon's U10/U20 USB Network Interfaces.

When you plug the device into your USB, Windows will look for the associated driver, if it cannot find this driver then you will be prompted to insert the driver disc that came with your device. Common USB Device errors are ‘ usb port not working ‘, ‘device descriptor request failed error’ or ‘bugcodeusbdriver’ issues.

Mac OS X 10.4 or higher

Download and upzip the file Ux0MacOSX100.zip.
Install the FTDI USB Virtual COM Port (VCP) Driver kernel extension available from the disk image FTDIUSBSerialDriver_v2_1_0.dmg. For further details, review the driver's installation guide FTDIUSBSerialDriver_InstallationGuide.pdf. If you wish, check http://www.ftdichip.com for an updated version of this driver.
Install the UsbLta Framework by dragging UsbLta.framework from the top level folder to e.g. /Library/Frameworks.
Insert the U10/U20 USB Network Interface into an available USB port.
The driver for the U10/U20 should now appear in the /dev folder. To find the driver, in a Terminal window execute the following command:
# ls /dev/tty.u*
You should see one or more device drivers of the form /dev/tty.usbserial-009AEEBD. When using an OpenLDV application, you will specify the 8 hexadecimal number as the driver name.
The NodeUtil application can optionally be used to test the readiness of the U10/U20 network interface, or to perform network maintenance or diagnostic operations. To run NodeUtil, specify the 8-character serial number that you obtained from step 5 above the -D option. If using a U20, also specify the -S option, for example:
# NodeUtil -D009AEEBD -S
Documentation for NodeUtil is provided in the file NODEUTIL.TXT.
You are now ready to run an OpenLDV compatible application. For more information on how to program to the OpenLDV functions, download the OpenLDV Developer's Kit from http://www.echelon.com/downloads. The ported headers for writing an OpenLDV application are in the UsbLta.framework.

The license that governs the use of this network interface driver is is agreed to before downloading this software from Echelon's Web site. The license is also available from the top level of the archive as License.htm.

The OpenLDV 5 Network Driver for Windows provides IzoT and LonWorks tools and applications with an open and unified Windows software interface for sending and receiving messages through LonTalk/IP and LON network interfaces. The OpenLDV 5 driver supports network interfaces from Echelon, and also supports compatible network interfaces available from other manufacturers.

OpenLDV 5 includes integrated drivers for the following Echelon network interfaces:

IzoT Router with Remote Network Interface (RNI)
SmartServer and i.LON 100 Controllers with RNI
U10, U20, and U60 USB Network Interfaces
i.LON 600 LonWorks/IP-852 Router with RNI
PCC-10 PC Card Network Interface
PCLTA-20 and PCLTA-21 PCI Network Interfaces
SLTA-10 Serial LonTalk Adapter (requires separate driver)

The OpenLDV 5 driver interface also works with Echelon's legacy network interfaces such as the PCLTA, PCLTA-10 and SLTA/2.

The OpenLDV 5 driver (requires .NET Framework 3.5) is supported on the following versions of Microsoft Windows: Windows 10 (64-bit and 32-bit), Windows 8.1 (64-bit and 32-bit), Windows 8 (64-bit and 32-bit), Windows 7 (64-bit and 32-bit), Windows Server 2012 R2 (64-bit), Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit), Windows Server 2008 (32-bit), Windows XP (32-bit), or Windows Server 2003 (32-bit).

Drivers Echelon Port Devices Gigabit

For Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 you need to manually install .NET Framework 3.5 through the Windows Control Panel Program and Features “Turn windows features on or off”. For older Windows Operating Systems like XP, .NET Framework 3.5 is installed automatically by the OpenLDV 5.0 installer if needed.
